Day one East Lothian v Stirling and Clackmannanshire
The tournament kicked off with the morning Foursomes. It was agloriously sunny day, with blue skys enhancing the all round spectacular vistas and the view of the historic castle that crowns the course. We had three new pairings who quickly gelled together, putting on an excellent display of team golf and at the end of the three matches it was all square heading into the afternoon.
Jill McNicoll & Carys Irvinewon v Alison Goodwin & Louise Fox
Kirsten Ireland & Evie McCallum A/Sv Linda Allan & Margo Gardner
Ann Sewell & Anne Laird lost v Alison Davidson & Laura Bissett
As the temperatures rose on what has been one of the hottest days of the year, Gail was close at hand with sunscreen and lots of water for the girls. We saw umbrellas having an outing too, no not because of rain, but instead used as parasols to block the sun. Good thing we always carry them! Undeterred by the heat the team won 5 of the matches and Carys played really well against team Captain Alison Davidson to half her match on the 18th. Kay had a fantastic 6&5 win in her game whilst all the others were closely fought right to the 17th or 18th hole. The day ended with East Lothian on 6 points and Stirling and Clackmannanshire on 3.
Carys IrvineA/S v Alison Davidson

Day two East Lothian v Fife
Much more pleasant golfing conditions on day two thanks to the sun staying behind the clouds and the temperature falling a little. With both sides having won the day before, the team were determined to do well and when Jill and Carys won the final foursomes match of the day, the team were all square with Fife heading into the afternoon.
Dawn Young & Kay Lannin lost v Eilidh Henderson& Lucy Renton.
Jill McNicoll & Carys Irvinewon v Brogan Clark & Lori Gilfillan
Well fuelled after lunchthe girls headed off for their singles matches. Kirsten having won her game 5&3 and Carys having lost her game to Eilidh Henderson, were first to finish and kept the suspense going, as Anne, Dawn, Evie and Jill brought their games up the 17th and 18th. New to the tournament Evie was paired against experienced player Lorna McKinlay and did really well to win her match 2up. With Anne and Dawn both now back we were one match down in the clubhouse. Team supporters were left holding their breath until Jill won her match with a final putt on the 18th. All Square again!

Day 3 East Lothian v Midlothian
A little drizzle in the morning soon cleared to leave a dry but somewhat windy day with the temperature fluctuating between hot and quite cool. Layers of clothing were on and off and Gail was even spotted wearing a woolly hat at one point. After the previous days results both teams had it all to play for and treated us to some spectacular golf whilst gunning for the win. We saw Kirsten sink a 30 foot putt from off the green on the par 3 six and Evie hit a beautiful chip in to inches from the hole at the 7th. Their opponents Karen Ferguson Sneddon and Fiona Wait won the match with a birdie on the par 4 16th. Jill had a tough match against Kate McIntosh who’s putter was on fire sinking several long putts and when Anne Hanson birdied the 18th she squared the match costing Kirsten the win. Annie sunk a very determined putt on the 3rd taking out any borrow and going straight for the back of the cup. “ The greenskeeper will be out to repair the back of the hole tomorrow” said Annie as she left the green. Evie took an early 4 up lead going up the 7th and after a fantastic birdie on the 11th she too holed a very determined putt on the 12th to secure a fantastic 7&6 win. Competition was high and all gameswere played in great spirit with Midlothian winning the overall match.
