As well as watching golf there was a considerable interest in the wildlife on the course. Follow this link:

After a very successful bonding session the night before the team were determined to do well on day 3. Clara and Grace lead out the team in the foursomes and made a great pairing winning their match 3 and 1. Hazel and Sue just lost out on the 18th so we went into the singles trailing by one.

In the afternoon session Clara and Grace again lead us out and their victories gave the team a great start.

Kay had a great victory against Karen Marshall a real captain’s performance.

Jill and Sue both lost to very strong opponents so all was resting on the last match between Dianne and Karen Ferguson-Snedden. They went onto the 18th tee with Dianne one up. Dianne played the hole well and with her opponent finding the rough won her game and the match.

The team did really well to recover from the first day’s loss against Fife to finish second overall. All credit must go to them, their caddies and all who played a part but especially Jenni who lead us magnificently.

Congratulations to Fife and their captain Lorna Bennett on their victory in the East Division Jamboree. Fife go on to play in the Scottish Finals versus the North, West & South Divisions, to be held at Peebles Golf Club from Friday 30th August – Sunday 1st  September inclusive, where they will all fight out to be crowned Scottish Champions. We wish them luck at that event.

Our squad played some fantastic golf today to beat Midlothian to finish 2nd in the  Inter County Competition.  A full report on day 3 and some more photographs will be posted tomorrow.

Stirling and Clackmannanshire fought back with two wins against Kay and Sue. Dianne had a very close match losing on the 17th.

A big thank you to all the players and caddies who played their part in giving us this exciting, nail biting round of golf.

On the tee Jill McNicoll

Jill who had been 3 down at one stage fought back to 1 down with 2 to play. At the 17th, the shot of the day, a fantastic long putt won the hole.

The only game to go up the 18th saw Jill remain calm while her opponent got into trouble in the rough, a really good approach and an excellent putt made sure of the win and a halved match overall.

On a very blustery day East Lothian struggled against a Fife side containing four Ladybank members whose experience of the course proved decisive. There were some great matches and some excellent comebacks in particular Clara Young coming back from 3 down to win, Kay Lannin’s 3 and 2 victory and Jill McNicoll coming back to take her opponent to the 18th.

Our consolation prize was at the buffet where we managed to beat Fife to the puddings.

The team played at Ladybank today in preparation for the Inter County Jamboree, the winners going on to play for the Scottish County Challenge Shield. It was very windy and we were hoping for calmer conditions tomorrow but the weather forecast is for more of the same.

The first match is against Fife with the Foursomes first tee time at 8.30am. The afternoon singles start at 1.30pm.

Good luck to all our players.

We have been asked to bring this competition to your attention.

An application form and a full description of the format can be found here:

What started off as a fairly nice summer’s day quickly became wintry thanks to a stiff north easterly “breeze”. The front 9 was playing into the wind and proved difficult for many players, not the only problem though as at least one snack bar was snaffled by a crow at the first.

Congratulations to

Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open Panel Discussion

Tuesday 6th August, 2019
Simpson & Marwick Spiegeltent

£10 (Adults), £4 (Under 16s)

This is a seated event.

With world class golfers on our doorstep from 8th – 11th August for the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, it seems only fitting to invite them along to Fringe By The Sea!

The Ladies Scottish Open one of the premier events on the ladies golfing calendar is co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and LPGA. Top golfing names will form our panel, including Beth Allen, and presenter Emma Dodds. Questions from the audience will be welcome. And there’s a chance to pit your golf skills against the pros after the session!

All ages.

We understand that there has been some frustration with the BRS booking system.

Players would like to know who their playing partners will be when booking and unlike booking through your home club’s BRS you are treated like a visitor and so have to fill in a form requiring all your details including CDH number.

Unfortuately at the moment due to the limitations of the system we cannot change these settings. Hopefully in the future these issues can be resolved.

Since the last meeting we have had 5 ELJGL Match Days at North Berwick West Links, Longniddry, Gifford, Castle Park and Dunbar.

At Longniddry we also held the ELLCGA Junior Spring Meeting and had 9 girls competing. Grace Crawford won with an excellent 40 points, Emma Chapman was 2nd, also with 40 points and Lucy Hall was 3rd with 37 points.

At Gifford the ELLCGA Girls’ Team had the best overall score on the day, of the 12 teams competing. Abby was the leading scorer with 43 points, followed by Ellie Bent and Louise Martin, both with 41 points. Thank you to Jenni and Jane for their help at Gifford.

We had just one girl competing at Castle Park, mainly due to a clash with the championship qualifier at Gullane. There were 3 girls competing at Dunbar. The next match day will be at Craigielaw on 30th June.

East of Scotland Girls played a match against the West of Scotland Girls at Pollock Golf Club. Ala Gorka was the only ELLCGA girl who was able to play. The West won the match.

We have arranged a Get-Together for the girls at Fenton Barns on the 17th June with Martyn Huish. We will use the session for a bit of coaching, a bit of help with the rules and how to mark scorecards and the responsibilities of marking your playing partner’s card. We have got 4 girls who have said they will come along. Thanks to Jenni for arranging the evening.

The Cuthbertson Cup has been re-arranged for 29th September at Falkirk Tryst following its postponement in April.
