Jamboree Round Up

I am very proud of our East Lothian team the way they played and how they conducted themselves throughout the competition. All of our matches were very close including a draw against the eventual winners, a couple of putts were the difference between finishing third and winning. They played some amazing golf on a course that favoured strategy over distance. Thanks to them for giving up their time and for being so great to work with. The course at Tulliallan was in immaculate condition, the burn came into play on many of the holes and along with  the bunkers made the small greens difficult to hit. Weather conditions contributed to the exciting golf that we saw, swirling winds on the first two days and rain on the last resulted in some excellent matchplay. Special thanks to the Greenkeepers whose hard work showed all round the course. All of the committee members who were there want to go back and try playing it themselves, it really is a lovely course. Thank you to Tulliallan GC for allowing us the use of their course and for making us welcome. Thanks to the catering staff who managed to keep us fed, the cakes for dessert proved very popular.

There were lots of highlights over the 3 days.

On the last day, Clara’s albatross, hole in one followed later on by Evie holing a 60 yard pitch for an eagle when their opponents were a couple of feet from the pin and were going to be putting for a birdie.

Clara again, slipping into the burn as she tried to retrieve her ball.

Jill’s putt that won the hole on the 18th against S&C, resulting in a halved game and a halved match.

Jo’s shot from the 7th fairway onto the tiny 8th green, which was hard to get onto even from the 8th fairway.

The sheer quantity of snacks that the team managed to eat.

The positive comments from everyone about our fluorescent pink kit, it made them easy to see even when in the trees.

The hard working caddies and ball spotters who were such a help to the team, thank you for all your support.

Many thanks to Alison and her S & C committee for all the hard work that they put in to make the Jamboree a success. There was such a good atmosphere in the clubhouse and on the course.
