Championship and Handicap Quaich Report

Congratulations to our Championship winner Jill McNicoll. Winning the trophy for the third time.

Congratulations also to our Handicap Quaich winner Lesley McClelland.

After the calm day on Saturday when the wind didn’t get above 7mph, Gullane became a different course in very blustery conditions, it was also very cold in the morning as the players teed off.

The line up for the semi finals in the Championship was Carys Irvine v Shirley Lawson and Jill McNicoll v Janette Murdie both matches finished on the 16th green with Carys and Jill reaching the final.

In the Quaich the semi final line up was Lee Ann Mulholland v Marie Vandepeear and Patricia Smith v Lesley McClelland. Lee Ann and Lesley reaching the final.

The Finals were played in slightly better conditions as the sun came out, however the wind seemed to be getting worse. The standard of golf was high throughout the day with Jill coming out on top  against Carys and Lesley winning against Lee Ann.

The presentation of the prizes by former president of ELLCGA Elaine Dick took place in the clubhouse.

A huge thank you to Gullane for all the help and assistance they have given this week and for allowing us to play on such a wonderful course. Thanks must go to the Greenkeepers, the course was in fantastic condition. Steven and his staff did a wonderful job catering for us this week, thank you to them. Our starter Simon was fantastic all week, calming down players on the first tee. Thank you to the committee, particularly Laura Steedman, Sue Penman and Una Cooper who were a great help during the match play stages.
