Spring Meeting at Gullane Report
Who has ever heard the words ” I was too hot” and “there was no wind” at a Spring Meeting? It may have been a bit chilly for the early and mid afternoon players but the majority of the field had lovely conditions for their rounds. Watching players sitting outside in the sunshine checking their scores was an unusual sight and many of us were reminiscing about the dreadful weather conditions we have had to put up with in the past.
Gullane really sparkled in the sunlight and the views were glorious. Many thanks to Gullane Golf Club for hosting us, the course was in fantastic condition. Thanks also to Simon who patiently started 161 players and the catering staff for their efficient service. We are looking forward to coming back at the weekend for the matchplay stages. The draw for this will be posted later today.
The winner of the Connie Lugton prize for the best Scratch score at the Spring Meeting was Carys Irvine with a 74, Alyssa Henderson was second with a 78 (bih) with Kirsten Ireland in third place with a 78.
The winner of the prize for the best net score was Elaine Mcinroy with a net 68, runner up was June Elliot with a 70 and in third place was Linda Boyle with a 71(bih). Linda also distinguished herself by having a two at the 4th and following it up with another at the 13th.
The twos were all scored by players from Gullane, local knowledge was definitely an advantage there.
