Day 3

The final day at Balbirnie saw the team take on the current Scottish County Champions, Midlothian.

Abby & Jill led the morning foursomes in a closely fought match against Rachel Livingstone & Louise Fraser. The pair played level par golf, but were beaten on the 16th, 3&2. Next up was Carys & Jenny who took on Molly Nicholson & Freya Constable. The new partnership played fantastic golf and headed down the 18th, where the match ended in a half. Kirsten & Ellie had a solid game against Caroline Steedman & Kate McIntosh, with the Mid pairing closing out on the 16th for their team’s second 3&2 victory.

In the afternoon, EL rookie Abby Nisbet ended Freya Constable’s winning streak with a 3&2 victory. This was closely followed by a great win from Ellie against Louise Fraser. A 2&1 win and another point on  the board. Kirsten, Jenny, Jill and Carys were unable to fight off the strength of Megan Fallon, Rachel Livingston, Kate McIntosh and Hilary Laughland, with all girls losing out on the points.

Midlothian 6.5  East Lothian 2.5

This victory for Mid meant that they retained the East Division trophy and we wish them well, at the Scottish finals, played at Eyemouth from the 29th August-1st September.

Special thanks to all ELLCGA members who supported the team throughout this event. I know the girls really appreciated you giving up your time to trolley push, ball spot or support in the crowd.

To Balbirnie G.C, thank you for hosting this event, for your warm welcome and fantastic hospitality.

Finally to members of our committee for all the hard work which went on, behind the scenes, to make sure the few days ran smoothly, as well as Fife for organising this year’s event.

Here’s to 2025.
