Day one and it was tough blustery conditions on the course. We are in July but those wooly hats were needed.   Fortunately the rain stayed away and the blue skys complimented the fantastic views from Gullane Hill. Today East Lothian took on Stirling & Clackmannanshire.
In the morning Foursomes Carys Irvine and Kirsten Ireland,  not to be put off  by the difficult conditions, quickly settled into their match to win 4 & 2.  Anne Laird and Mary Lou Watkins didn’t get off to the best start and at one point found themselves 5 down in their match. However they did have an incredible fight back and brought the game back to one down after the fifteenth and by the end of seventeen were all square. Stirling & Clackmannanshire secured the win on eighteen with a twenty foot putt for birdie. So close! Jill McNicoll and Ellie Bent also took their match all the way to the eighteenth but it was Stirling & Clackmannanshire who secured the win 2 up. Midlothian won all of their three matches against Fife.
Fife and Midlothian were the first to tee off in the afternoon singles matches. Midlothian winning 4 matches and Fife 2.
Conditions were tough again and the play slow throughout the afternoon.  Mary Lou won her match but it was Stirling & Clackmannanshire who had the overall win ( 5: 1) after some great golf and competition from East Lothian.

not forgetting our hardworking committee!

Hang on what’s Nancy up to? Isn’t that ……..?
