We started the day with some lovely blue sky for our semi final matches. First up were the Championship semifinals – Claire Jones (Haddington) and Alyssa Henderson (Renaissance) teed off first. The second semi final was Barbara Biggart (North Berwick) playing against Dawn Young (North Berwick). Alyssa won the first match and Barbara played some great golf to win the second match.

The semifinals of the Handicap Quaich were Elspeth Douglas (Dunbar) against Jenni Ray (North Berwick) and Diane Sheffield (Winterfield) against Irene Gray. Again some good golf from all the ladies with Jenni and Diane winning the matches.

We were delighted to see Catriona Matthew, who came along to Renaissance to start the two finals in the afternoon. Sadly the blue sky from the morning had disappeared and the temperature had dropped considerably. Woolly hats were definitely required!

There was some fantastic golf played in both matches.

In the Championship Alyssa played some great golf and holed quite a few crucial putts including a long putt on the 11th for a two, going on to win the match and the title of County Champion.

The Handicap Quaich final was closely fought between Jenni and Diane. In particular Diane’s chipping and putting proved crucial to her winning the match on the 17th.

The trophies were presented in the clubhouse.

Many thanks to Catriona for coming along to support us and to Renaissance for hosting us for the Matchplay stages as well as the Spring Meeting. Thanks to Elaine Dick and Sue Penman for refereeing the two finals and to all the committee for their support.

Many congratulations to our two winners – Alyssa and Diane.  I’m sure we will all sleep well tonight!
