Renaissance Spring meeting Report
We were delighted to hold our Spring Meeting and Championship qualifier at The Renaissance Club on Monday 17th April. We were very fortunate to wake up to a dry day with very little wind and the forecast for the day looked good. Most unusual for an ELLCGA Meeting!
A big thank you must go to Nancy Thorne and Lesley Wood for all their hard work with the new Scottish Golf system. It did prove slightly challenging at times but they did a fantastic job. Thank you to everyone for their patience and hopefully the scoring on your phones will become more straightforward as we all become more familiar with the system. Thank you to all the committee members who helped to make the day run smoothly.
There was some great scoring and lots of ladies enjoyed playing the course for the first time. I think the most well used phrase yesterday was “If I could have putted……!”
Congratulations to Lindsey Garden, the winner of the Connie Lugton Prize for the best scratch score with a great score of 72. Well played, Lindsey. In second place was Kirsten Ireland with a 74 (bih) and third was Morag Campbell, also with 74. In the Bronze division, Laura Steedman had the best scratch score of 96. Well done Laura.
The best net score was Anne Rorrison with a net 69. Anne didn’t find the greens difficult, obviously! Very well done, Anne. In second place was Dee Williams with a net 70 and third was Alison Cockcroft with a net 71. Well done, ladies.
In the Bronze division, the best net score was Jean McNeill with a net 74 followed by Shona Paton with a net 76 and Dorothy Bell-Sneddon with a net 77. Well played ladies.
Many thanks to the Renaissance Club for hosting the ELLCGA Spring Meeting, to Jerry Sarvardi and Billy Peterson for giving us courtesy of the course. All the ladies who played were delighted to get the chance to play the course, current home to the Scottish Open. Many thanks to Mike Wood who was our starter on the first tee – thank you for giving up your day to help us, it was much appreciated. Thanks to the golf staff for their help during the day and to the Bar and Catering team for looking after us so well. We will be making a donation to The Renaissance Club Charitable Foundation and will confirm the amount that will be donated very soon.
We look forward to playing our Championship Matchplay and the Handicap Quaich at Renaissance on Sunday 30th April and Monday 1st May. Congratulations to all those who qualified for the Matchplay competitions.
