Carols’ Trophy
Following completion of the two sections of the Carols’ Trophy matches, the winners of section 1, North Berwick, and the winners of section 2, Dunbar, met for the final at Longniddry Golf Club on Tuesday 27th September.
It was a cold, breezy day with many of the players sporting woolly hats for the first time since last winter but the players set off in good spirits. The matches were closely fought and there was some good golf played. Quite a few supporters braved the cold weather to support the two teams.
It was 2-2 after the first four matches returned to the clubhouse and we eagerly waited for the last match to finish. Dunbar won the final match and therefore won the Carols’ Trophy for 2022.
Well done to all the players who have competed throughout the season. Many congratulations to the Dunbar team of Milly McGinty, Lis Snodgrass, Sheila Blackwood , Kirsten Fell and Barbara Wallace. And commiserations to the North Berwick team of Gwen Stewart (team captain), Jane McMinn, Marie Young, Pauline O’Hagan and Christian Blake.
We all enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea in the clubhouse afterwards. Many thanks to Longniddry Golf Club for hosting the final. Thanks to Carol Macleod and Carole Ross for their support and for presenting the trophy to the winners.
