ELLCGA Junior Girls were invited by Scottish Golf and Kingsbarns Golf Links to participate in the Kingsbarns Girls Classic on Saturday 2nd November.

This exciting event is now in its second year and is a legacy of Kingsbarns hosting the Women’s British Open in 2017. Scottish Golf’s aim is to give developing young female golfers the opportunity to play one of the world’s finest links courses, celebrate women’s golf in Scotland and inspire more young women to fulfil their golfing potential.
Each County in Scotland was invited to nominate two players to take part and they were joined by a Scottish female PGA professional or Ladies European Tour player to play as a team in a Texas Scramble format.

Abby Nisbet and Lucy Hall were selected to represent East Lothian and were joined by Gabrielle MacDonald in their Texas Scramble team. The 3 girls thoroughly enjoyed their day and played very well. 14 counties were represented at the event with people travelling from as far as Dumfries and Inverness to take part in the day.  The weather was very kind – no wind and only a few drops of rain in the last few holes.

The county representatives met for lunch and had an informal discussion on how Scottish Golf can work with us to support girls’ Golf.

Abby, Lucy and Gabrielle played very well as a team and finished in first place. It was a very enjoyable day and Abby and Lucy were delighted to have the opportunity to play such a great golf course!
