Here are the semi-final ties, to be played on or before 27th August.
The uncertain weather has not encouraged people to get out and play in the many Open Days at clubs in the County and elsewhere. We would encourage members to support these events, they are a great opportunity to play other courses. Details are readily available on most club websites if you are looking at individual clubs and information is also carried on the Scottish Golf and other websites if you want to look at areas or specific dates.
Two of our East Lothian Clubs which used to be over subscribed are still taking entries for their Open Days – Dunbar on the 3rd August and The Glen on the 10th. Details and entry forms are available on the Dunbar and Glen websites.
Other Clubs with forthcoming August/September opens, singles, Greensomes and team, are Musselburgh, Royal Musselburgh and Longniddry.
The East of Scotland Championship will be held on Sunday 15th October 2017 and for the first time will be held at The Royal Burgess Golf Club in Edinburgh. Entries open on Monday 24th July and we hope this will be well supported by our members. This competition is open to members of East Lothian Ladies, Midlothian, Fife and Stirling and Clackmannan Counties. In the event of the competition being oversubscribed higher handicappers will be balloted out.
For further details please open and download the poster and entry form below.
Clara Young has been named as 2017 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All -American Scholar. This comes hot on the heels mod her recent recognition by her college in Missouri. Clara is currently playing in the Scottish Team in the Algarve at the European Team Championships.
Juniors – Some of our junior girls took part in the East of Scotland Girls Summer Meeting and Championship earlier this week. While Fife junior, Porscha Wilson, Burntisland, won the Scratch Prize and the Stephen Gallacher Trophy with a gross score of 76 at Bathgate G C. and Midlothian member Mollaidh Nicholson, Prestonfield, won the Overall Handicap Prize with a net 66, Alicja Gorka who joined ELLCGA this year also had a net 66 to win the under 14 prize. Alicja was pipped at the post by Mollaidh for the Overal Handicap by a better inward half. (Par 70, SSS 70, CSS 69)
Eight girls qualified for the East of Scotland Girls Championship and although Alicja was unable to play Grace Crawford was there to fly the flag for ELLCGA. Grace lost to Lucy Morrison who in turn lost in the semi-finals to Eilidh Henderson who went on to win the Championship with Porscha Wilson the runner up. A full report can be found at http://www.eastgirls.org
Congratulations to Alicja and Grace for doing so well.
