The February draw was made today and the three lucky winners were:-

1st Prize – Hazel Saunders (23)

2nd Prize – Anne Marshall (24)

3rd Prize – Liz McColl (84)

The team took on Gullane GC today in the annual match for the Percy Vere Trophy. The conditions were testing to say the least with winds gusting to 40pmh at times.  We were however spared the worst of the rain and the match as always was played in good spirits. Steven and his team looked after us well in clubhouse and we all enjoyed the post match hospitality and chat over high tea.  Our thanks go to Gullane GC for once again extending their hospitality and for their good wishes to the team in the Inter County Matches at Stirling later in June.

I say we played for the Percy Vere Trophy but the elusive Percy was not to be found. Having been missing last year he was found and returned to the clubhouse but was no where to be found this afternoon. We will however persevere and I am sure Percy will take pride of place on the table next year.

The result:-

Gavin Boyd & John Heaphy beat Keren Ward & Lauren Lee 3&2

Alistair Brown & Paul Craig lost to Mary Lou Watkins & Hazel Saunders 2&1

Colin Sinclair & Paul Anderson beat Lesley Johnstone & Barbara Biggart 2&1

Kevin Thomson & Harry MacLean beat Kay Lannin & Dawn Young 5&3

Davie Saunders & Stuart Munro lost to Jill McNicoll & Pam Hall 4&3

Andy Bamford & Nigel Watt beat Ann Sewell & Sharon Lynch 2&1

Congratulations go to Gullane GC on their 4-2 win.

We have had a phenomenal interest in our Spring Meeting and the highest entry  that I can remember by a very large margin.

I am glad to report that the new booking system seemed to go very smoothly with only a few people finding that they were pipped at the post in competition for a time. We had 44 bookings in the first 30 minutes and 115 in the course of the first day.

I realise that there are very few tee off times still showing as available. If you are unable to book a time please email Eleanor Black at eleanork_black @yahoo.co.uk

There are always cancellations and I hope one way or another that we will manage to fit you in between now and 24th April.

Just a reminder Ladies that there will be plenty of tee off times for Muirfield and we would ask you PLEASE do not all try to book as soon as the sheet opens. No system can cope with a hundred people all trying to log on at once.  There is plenty time to book so please take your time.

Thank you.

As many of you may by now have heard  Ros Thoresen sadly died at home on Monday 13th February 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Ros was a member and great supporter of ELLCGA for many years and a past Hon Secretary . She will also be known to many of you more recently as past lady captain at North Berwick GC. She will be greatly missed by her many friends as well as by her family.

Both semi-finals have now been played and the final will be Lynn Lund and Fiona Hopkinson against Frances Hall and Lindsey Garden. Well done ladies and have a good game.
