Welcome to our new website.

I hope you will like the fresh look and layout and will take the time to find out find out what is where. The view you have may alter slightly depending on whether you are viewing on a computer, tablet, mini -tablet or smart phone.

I am looking forward to the season ahead, but the committee have been busy over the winter months and not just with the setting up the new website.

Carol Murray and Eleanor Black have been busy with the new BRS online system for entering and paying for the three Meetings and the Commonwealth Spoons.

Barbara Biggart and I having listened to the clubs and discussed matters with Carole Ross and Carol Macleod set in train changes to the format of the 5 a-side competition. Jenni Ray and I have now met again with all the club representatives and the rules and draws are now all in place for the new format. The Dewar Trophy will remain a scratch competition but the Carols’ Trophy will in future be a handicap competition. Such is the interest that a draw was made for the competition to be run in two sections with a play off for the Trophy.   For further details look under the 5 A-Side tab.

Jenni has also been busy with the arrangements for the pre-season lunch which moves to Kilspindie this year. Jenni is now taking bookings and full details and the menu are under the County Events tab – Social Events.

Frances Hall and I have been reviewing the branded clothing on available to members and have decided to drop some of the items and to offer some others.  We are glad to report that the Nike long sleeved quarter zip tops which we acquired in small numbers 2 years ago for the team and those quick enough to snap up the remainder have become available again. Have a look at the About tab – Branded Goods to see what is on offer. We hope to add some other options from time to time so keep an eye on the site.

The squad has been meeting up regularly for practise matches and have now had the first of two short game sessions with Ailsa Murphy at Gullane. Hopefully their games will be finely honed by the time they have the annual matches v Gullane GC and Borders Ladies.

There has been no junior training over the winter but Wendy Thummanond has all their venues arranged for the year ahead and is planning to repeat last year’s spring sessions with Martyn Huish during the Easter holidays. Two of the juniors, Lauren Lee and Annabel Hosie have however been taking part in the ladies squad events.

But what about the golf I hear you say. Janet Fairweather has been recording the results and keeping us up to date with the winter foursomes and as we enter February the ties for the semi- finals are Lynn Lund and Fiona Hopkinson v Ingrid Elgsaas and Georgene Parsons in the upper half of the draw and Frances Hall and Lindsey Garden v. Gwen Stewart and Lesley Ross in the bottom half of the draw.

We enter a new era with our online entry for the Spring, Summer and Autumn Meetings and the Commonwealth Spoons. Eleanor has prepared a note explaining how to book. The system will go live for the Spring Meeting at Muirfield on 20th February at 8am.  There are plenty of tee times so no need for everyone to rush at once.

This year, as announced previously, we are also changing the booking arrangements for the Summer Hole & Hole and the Winter Foursomes. There is no form. If you want to enter the Summer Hole & Hole simply email Janet Fairweather at janetfairweather28@gmail.com before the 17th March. We will then do the draw and post this on the website under the County Events tab- Summer Hole & Hole. As always the competition will run from 1st April till 30th September. So if you enter remember to check when you need to play by.

Entries for the Winter Foursomes will not be accepted before the 1st August and a reminder will be sent out nearer the time.

Once everyone has got used to the changes I hope that you will find the new arrangement much easier and I know the committee are looking forward to a lot less cheques and wee slips of paper being passed round. There may be a few teething issues and we may need to tweak the website a little as we start to use it and Linda Henderson will be helping to keep it all up to date.

Finally I wish you all an enjoyable and successful season and I look forward to seeing you at the lunch and or at this year’s meetings.
