The Cuthbertson Cup was played for on Sunday 19th April 2009 at Burntisland Golf Clubhouse.
On what was a beautiful day the team of Keren Ward, Clara Young, Jenny Sewell and Rosie Everett travelled with our Junior Convener, and Bus Driver for the day, Lesley Nicholson, Pam Hall, Mary Lou Renton, and Fiona Playfair to Burntisland. All aboard our bus for the day we set off on our travels. With the promise of bacon rolls and coffee at the other end the 8am start didn’t seem to bad.
Ah well things did not go quite according to plan, no caterers were on site, so Lesley and Mary Lou set off to look for breakfast. After a quick trip to the local Co-Op , breakfast of a different kind was provided.
The girls played Fife in the morning, in which was a very closely fought match, with all girls playing extremely well against girls of much lower handicaps, they showed great character and went down fighting 1½ to 2½ . With Clara Young achieving the win and Jenny Sewell obtaining the half point.
So the afternoon beckoned, and the third and fourth place play offs, which was played in foursomes format. Clara and Keren led from the front winning their match at the 16th, whilst Jenny and Rosie completed the two nil win by winning 5 and 4.
